Old Snowmass Hillside Residence Read Details Old Snowmass, CO

This single family home was designed to evoke a historic barn nestled into the hillside. The two-story house has grade-level walkouts at both levels. The structure’s materiality – native Colorado moss stone, reclaimed timbers, and reclaimed barnwood siding – give it the patina of a home several generations old. Interior finishes bring a modern edge to rustic Colorado traditionalism. The large windows gaze out to the peak of Mount Sopris while bringing in ample natural light. On the other side of these windows, the kitchen, dining, and living rooms form the main living area, complete with vaulted ceiling. Though the house is a singular linear volume, the mass is broken up by multiple gable roofs echoing the neighboring mountain peaks, articulated in slate shingles and standing seam metal.
