East Aspen Compound Read Details Aspen, CO

Located at the intersection of Cooper Avenue and Hwy 82, this mixed use development serves as an icon entering Aspen from the East. The East facing structure was designed to conceptually resemble layers of Aspen trees through the use of a diagonal structure and copper shingles emulating Aspen leaves. Large openings in the skin were designed to frame views of Independence Pass and the surrounding context. On the South and West faces, the building becomes transparent to allows views of the city, ski slopes and surrounding vistas. Internally, the combined five stories include space for retail, commercial office and restaurant space. Externally, plazas create spaces at multiple levels for the use by patrons and the public. The structure totals approximately 45,000 sf.
